Music superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are to headline the 2020 Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show it was announced today (September 26th).
In a joint statement released by the NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation – it was revealed that the two dynamic performers will take centre stage at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on February 2nd next year.
“These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become.” Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s Vice President of Marketing, said of the exciting news.
“We’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages!”
With combined records sales of over 150 million, both Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have become musical and culture icons since they first hit the charts at the turn of the millennium.
Lopez with her sexy latin, R&B sounds and Shakira with her mix of exotic latin, pop – the pair have released some of the biggest songs of the past 20 years, ripping up the rule book and finding success in their own ways and on their own terms.
Now two decades into their careers, the duo continue to release innovative, groundbreaking music, and perform sell out concerts in arenas and stadiums all around the world, continuing to please and excite their ever growing legion of loyal fans… the ladies certainly have come a long way since their humble beginnings in The Bronx (JLO) and Barranquilla, Colombia (Shakira).
“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl.” Lopez said in a statement of her own.
“And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”
“I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world – and to top it off, on my birthday!” Shakira added.
